In this activity, my group was assigned a project in which we had to make a test truss with a given design. After we tested this truss using the Structural Stress Analyzer, we used the information we learned to design a better truss. This time the truss was our own design and we were assigned a completely new group as well. So each person did their own research and came up with a design. Then using the design matrix, we decided on one truss to build. We tested this one as well and our goal was to make this truss hold more than any of the test trusses. The full details are in the report above.
From this activity I learned a couple of things. The first was that trusses come in many shapes and sizes. When i researched them, there were all kinds of trusses. The next thing I learned was that trusses are insanely efficient. In comparison to their weight, trusses can hold weights that are many multiples higher. So its no wonder they are used on roofs!
